The appeal filed by the BSNL Management for restraining our members from holding demonstrations etc. has been dismissed by the Divisional Bench of Delhi High Court. The Divisional Bench has also imposed a fine of Rs.5000/- on the BSNL Management to be paid to the Tsunami fund. If the Management has any grievance in the matter they have been directed to refer back to the Single Bench. |

The extraordinary vision of SNEA pays rich dividends. The injection prayed for, by the BSNL Management in the Delhi High Court dismissed. The coveat filed by SNEA works in our favour. SNEA Advocates has been able to establish convincing arguments to dismiss the petition for injection. The Management is now likely to approach the Division Bench of Delhi High Court. The Association is preparing for appropriate action to ward off any threat. |

Due to our strong persuasion a high level meeting was convened for sorting out the vital issue of Group Insurance for all those absorbed in BSNL and recruited by BSNL. The meeting took the following conscientious decisions (1) Non-executives will be insured for Rs. One Lakhs with monthly subscription of Rs.105/- (2) Executives with pay scale up to Rs.13000/- will be insured for Rs. Three Lakhs with monthly subscription of Rs.315/- (3) Executives above pay scale of Rs.14500/- will be insured for Rs. Five Lakhs with monthly subscription of Rs.525/- (4) The risk and saving factor will be at the rate of 30% and 70% respectively (5) In case of accidental death the insurance amount will be double the sum assured. Final memo is being prepared by the approval of the BSNL Board. Insurance side was represented by a team of officers of LIC headed by Shri.Nilesh Sathe Country Head of Group Insurance of LIC, Management side by DDG (Restructuring), DDG (CA) and Staff side by GS Com.G.L.Jogi, AGS Com.Sukhvir Singh, AIBSNLEA by GS Com.S.Basu, BSNLEU GS Com.VAN Namboothiri. |

The Association has been invited along with BSNLEU and AIBSNLEA by the Management for discussion on Group Insurance scheme for the employees on 15th Feb 2005. The representatives of the LIC will present the scheme on this meeting. |

Rate of EPF contribution of JTOs recruited after 1-10-2000 has been placed before the BSNL Board for its approval. The Association has presented very strongly and submitted the pattern being followed in PSUs like NTPC, ONGC etc. Accordingly it has been decided in principle that the ceiling limit of Rs.6500/- will be removed. The rate of contribution will be finalised by the Board shortly. The Association is pursuing the issue further. |

Most immediate attention of Circle Secretaries. The man power posts got approved by the BSNL Management Board after prolonged and persistent pressure by the Association is held up due to non submission of proposals by the respective Circles. The sanction which doesn't require any further approval on the proposals submitted by the Circles will expire by 28-02-2005 as already announced on this site. Don't let the opportunities go waste. Circles Secretaries may take most immediate action. Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, NE-II, CTD, TN and Gujarat (incomplete) has submitted the proposals. Sanction has already been accorded for AP, Rajasthan, Punjab, UP (E), Orissa and Uttaranchal Circles. Circle Secretaries of the remaining Circles to act immediately to send the proposals within three days.
